The idea behind the cue
Dopamine agonists such as pramipexole and ropinirole can cause impulse control disorders, including compulsive gambling, shopping, eating, or hypersexuality. They may also cause nausea, orthostatic symptoms, and hallucinations, especially in older patients. The effect reflects overstimulation of dopamine pathways involved in reward.

Short & simple
The casino penguin keeps feeding the slot machine
Acronym
ARI — Airborne Robots Improvise.
Story
A patient starts collecting every neon bird statue in town and cannot stop betting on tiny arcade games. The pattern appears after a dopamine agonist wakes up reward pathways a little too enthusiastically.
Connect the pieces
- A (Airborne) → Agonist: Dopamine agonists such as pramipexole and ropinirole can overstimulate dopamine pathways.
- R (Robots) → Reward: That overstimulation can affect reward circuits and trigger impulse control problems like gambling, shopping, eating, or hypersexuality.
- I (Improvise) → Impulses: They may also cause nausea, orthostatic symptoms, and hallucinations, especially in susceptible or older patients.
- Airborne · Agonist: Dopamine agonists such as pramipexole and ropinirole can overstimulate dopamine pathways.
- Robots · Reward: That overstimulation can affect reward circuits and trigger impulse control problems like gambling, shopping, eating, or hypersexuality.
- Improvise · Impulses: They may also cause nausea, orthostatic symptoms, and hallucinations, especially in susceptible or older patients.
Know the limits
Not every patient develops these effects; risk is higher in susceptible individuals and with dopamine agonists, not all Parkinson drugs.
